Former Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay tragically passed away earlier this year. The news sent shockwaves through the league. However, there appears to be more to the story that originally thought.
So much so that the doctor who was prescribing medication is being looked at.

Reports reveal disturbing details about Harry Haroutunian, the doctor who prescribed opioid pills to former Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay before his tragic death in May:
Irsay unexpectedly passed away at the age of 65 in Los Angeles, California, on May 21. His daughters, Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt and Kalen Jackson, took over as the new co-owners of the Colts following Mr. Irsay’s death.
Details on Irsay’s health and circumstances were quiet in the first three months following his unexpected passing. Last week, a new report stated that Jim Irsay had multiple drug relapses before his death.
Now, Josh Boswell of the Daily Mail is reporting new unsettling details about Dr. Haroutunian’s sketchy history, which adds another tragic layer to the circumstances of Irsay’s passing.
Boswell dug up a California lawsuit from 2016, where Dr. Haroutunian was accused of “lying and fabricating records” so that one of his patients would have to enter an expensive rehab program:

“But a 2016 California lawsuit filed against him and the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage accused the doctor of ‘lying’ and fabricating records to force a patient into a $100,000, three-month program.
Clarkston, Washington, surgeon Dr. Mark Hiesterman got a DUI in 2013 and had a three-day substance abuse evaluation at the Hazelden Betty Ford Center, his lawsuit said.
Three doctors there found no abuse problem, and he was discharged, he claimed. But then Haroutunian, who never met Hiesterman, wrote a discharge summary diagnosing him with ‘an alcohol abuse disorder’, the legal complaint said.”
Hiesterman claimed Dr. Harry ‘made up’ that he would drink while on call as a doctor, and ‘lied’ that the Ford team had a ‘unanimous’ recommendation of a $100,000, 90-day rehab stint. Hiesterman alleged Haroutunian’s report was ‘motivated by financial gain,’ not his patient’s interests.”
In another case, Boswell found that Haroutunian lobbied for Dr. Elsworth Williams to have his medical license reinstated despite prescribing multiple drugs after a $100 consultation via telephone.
Williams was also put on a five-year probation in the ’90s for sexual misconduct of two patients. In his push for Williams to be reinstated, Haroutunian called him “an honorable and dignified man.”
