Moises Caicedo and Noni Madueke react to Nicolas Jackson leaving Chelsea

Nicolas Jackson completed a deadline day move to Bayern Munich - bringing to an end one of the most bizarre and eventful sagas of the summer transfer window.

Saturday was not only a busy day on the pitch for Chelsea, with a 2-0 victory over Fulham at Stamford Bridge, but behind the scenes, there was plenty going on. The Blues had reached an agreement with Bayern Munich for Jackson to move to the Allianz Arena on a season-long loan with an option to buy the 24-year-old striker next summer.

Chelsea were set to receive €15million (£12.97million) for a loan fee, with Bayern having a €65million (£56.2million) option inserted into the contract. At this point, the west Londoners gave Jackson permission to fly to Munich and undergo a medical to complete his move. Shortly after landing in the German city, Chelsea informed Bayern and Jackson that they would cancel the loan move following a hamstring injury suffered by Liam Delap in their game against Fulham.

Enzo Maresca confirmed post-match that Delap would be out for several weeks with the problem. However, Jackson and his entourage were left unhappy with Chelsea's decision and remained in Munich to try and salvage the deal. Later on, Chelsea opted to recall Marc Guiu from his loan at Sunderland, with the Spaniard only there for 26 days - which, in turn, paved the way for Jackson to depart.

With the help of his agent Ali Barat, Jackson ended up getting his move on an eventful deadline day. Chelsea negotiated a £70million complete package with Bayern Munich. The Blues were initially supposed to receive £12.97million for the loan fee, but that has now increased to £14.2million. £56.2million was the fee for the option in the initial deal and that remains the same with the obligation.

A popular figure in the Chelsea dressing room, some of his teammates took to social media to wish Jackson the best, as well as some of his former colleagues. "You deserve it my brother," said Noni Madueke, who moved to Arsenal this summer, in the comments on his Instagram post, where Jackson wrote about how delighted he is to finally get his move over the line.

"Te echaré de menos, mi hermano," Moises Caicedo wrote on his Instagram story, which translates to: "I will miss you, my brother", to which Jackson replied: "Mi brother".

Once the move was announced, Jackson said: "I’m really happy to now be part of this great club. Bayern is one of the best clubs in the world. Everyone knows the names of the legends who’ve played here and knows that this club stands for the greatest success. I’ve got big goals and dreams here and will give my all to help Bayern win further titles."

His agent Barat said: "Nicolas needed a platform that matches his ambition. At Bayern, he finds a structure of excellence, a football identity tailored to his strengths, and a project that will allow him to write the next chapter of his legacy."
