The Jacksonville Jaguars have announced their captains for the 2025 season. All things considered, they picked a nice blend of respected veterans and newcomers that reflects the changes the team made in the offseason.
Head coach Liam Coen said that he would be announcing the captains on September 1st. True to his word, he revealed that the Jags will have six captains.

Jourdan Lewis and Robert Hainsey are Jaguars team captains
Liam Coen met with the local media and announced that Trevor Lawrence, Josh Hines-Allen, Robert Hainsey, Jourdan Lewis, and Logan Cooke will be the captains.
Later in the exchange, the head coach added that the Jags could do game captains to rotate in with the original picks. Similarly, he stated that the team held a vote.
Lawrence, Hines-Allen, and Cooke are once again repeating, while Lewis and Hainsey are first-time captains for Jacksonville, which is understandable when you take into account that this is their first season with the team.
On the other hand, this will be Lawrence's fifth straight nod as a captain. He's getting the honor each and every year he's played for the Jags. Ditto for Oluokun, who's had the distinction every season since he signed with Jacksonville in 2022.
Meanwhile, this will be Hines-Allen's consecutive selection after getting snubbed in 2023. Evan Engram was named captain last year, but he's now with the Denver Broncos.
The Jaguars have the right amount of captains for 2025
There's no set number written in stone, but the fewer captains a team has the better. After all, the more you have, the more they dilute the honor. Back in 2023, the New York Giants had 10, which raises the question, why?
Think about it, if nearly everyone is a captain, nobody really isn't. Fortunately, that's not the case with the Jaguars in 2025. They selected several familiar faces, and none of their picks really were surprising. Trevor Lawrence is the face of the franchise while Josh Hines-Allen is the Jaguars' best defensive player and has been around longer than virtually everyone else, with the exception of probably Logan Cooke and Dawuane Smoot.
Foyesade Oluoukun, for his part, has been a respected voice and one of the team's leaders the past three years. It would have been odd not to see him get the nod.
On the other hand, Jourdan Lewis has made his presence felt since joining the Jags in free agency, while Robert Hainsay has set the tone since he's known Liam Coen dating back to their stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Last but not least is Logan Cooke, the glue that keeps the special teams together.
The bottom line is that the Jaguars have a solid core of players in place, and their picks for team captains reflect that.
