The results are in. The NFL revealed the final batch of Top 100 Players of 2025 on Monday, which included the 10 best players in the league this coming season, as voted by the players themselves.

After finishing No. 4 last season, Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes dropped one spot this season to finish at fifth.

The NFL made the announcement via social media on Monday night.

“. @Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is ranked No. 5 on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2025!” the league posted on X along with a video montage of Mahomes’ highlights and a number of NFL stars explaining why Mahomes deserves to be where he is in the rankings.

Mahomes, who is entering his ninth season in the NFL, took a bit of a dip last year. In 16 games played throughout the campaign, the three-time Super Bowl-winning QB registered 3,928 passing yards, which represented his lowest tally since his rookie year.

Mahomes completed 392 passes on 581 attempts for a 67.5% completion rate. The former Texas Tech star logged 26 touchdowns, which was the fewest TDs he’s scored in the last five seasons.

Mahomes missed out on the Pro Bowl for the first time in seven years and just the second time in his career.

Nevertheless, Mahomes was still able to lead the Chiefs to a 15-1 record. Kansas City, however, suffered a heartbreaking defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles at the Super Bowl, preventing them from achieving what would have been a historic Super Bowl three-peat.

It is worth noting that over the past five seasons, Mahomes was ranked No. 1 twice, in 2021 and 2023. His No. 5 ranking this coming season represents an improvement over his being voted the eighth-best player in 2022.

Either way, Mahomes enters the new season with a lot to prove. He will want to go out there and show the rest of the NFL that he’s still the best quarterback in the game, and, in the process, lead the Chiefs to their fourth Super Bowl win in seven years.
