Two former Alabama players made big jumps in the “NFL Top 100” to finish in the top 10 of the rankings for 2025. When the top 10 players were revealed on Monday night, Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry appeared at No. 7 and Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II placed 10th.
In its 15th year, “NFL Top 100” features a ranking for the league’s best 100 players as selected by the players for NFL Films.
Using a new digital-first format this year, “NFL Top 100” was revealed two players at a time every weekday on the social-media platform X until Monday night, when the top 10 players for 2025, as chosen by their peers, were announced on NFL Network.
In the 2024 “NFL Top 100,” Henry had ranked 49th and Surtain had placed 52nd.
In his first season with the Ravens, Henry ran for 1,921 yards and 16 touchdowns on 325 carries. Henry’s rushing yardage in 2024 was the 11th-most in a single season in NFL history.
The Associated Press and the Pro Football Writers of America presented their NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards to Surtain for his performance in the 2024 season.
Henry has been ranked in the “NFL Top 100” for seven years in a row. He made his first appearance at No. 99 in 2019, then ranked No. 10 in 2020, No. 4 in 2021, No. 12 in 2022 and No. 25 in 2023.
Surtain is ranked for the third year in a row. He placed No. 49 in 2023.
Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley led the 2025 “NFL Top 100,” with Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson second, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen third, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase fourth, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes fifth and Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow sixth. Between Henry and Surtain were Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett in eighth and Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson in ninth.
Fourteen players from Alabama high schools and colleges appeared in this year’s rankings, with Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (Alabama) at No. 19, Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs (Alabama) at No. 27, Green Bay Packers safety Xavier McKinney (Alabama) at No. 30, Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins (Clay-Chalkville) at No. 32, Packers running back Josh Jacobs (Alabama) at No. 33, Houston Texans defensive end Will Anderson Jr. (Alabama) at No. 46, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill (West Alabama) at No. 47, Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Josh Hines-Allen (Abbeville) at No. 63, Broncos quarterback Bo Nix (Pinson Valley, Auburn) at No. 64, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy (Alabama) at No. 82, New York Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams (Wenonah, Alabama) at No. 87 and Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (Alabama) at No. 91 joining Henry and Surtain.
