The world of Packers content has been all Micah Parsons, all the time for the last week solid.
And why wouldn’t it be? The Packers made their biggest, splashiest move in more than a generation to acquire Parsons, and that move will shape the franchise for years to come — or maybe more, if they end up capturing the NFL’s ultimate prize.
But this week it’s real. A few days from now, Parsons will take the field for the Packers for the first time, chasing Jared Goff around Lambeau Field as the Packers begin their 2025 campaign in earnest.
How much he’ll play is still a mystery. How much he’ll affect the Packers’ defense isn’t. He makes everyone better on every play. Every pass rusher will have an easier job because he’s on the field. Every linebacker will be able to hold their water a bit longer as they wait to diagnose play action, knowing he’s speeding up the quarterback’s clock. Every defensive back gets a little bit more room to maneuver as Parsons makes their jobs easier.
That’s the theory, at least. Soon, we’ll get to see things in play for real.
This is the most in-depth, beat-by-beat breakdown of how Micah Parsons landed in Green Bay that I’ve seen so far.
Let’s hope it’s especially scary at the start of the season, when the Packers have a quick turnaround between their first couple of games.
Rashan Gary might end up being the biggest winner of the Micah Parsons trade.
Other reports have downplayed the severity of Parsons’ injury, but it’s worth noting nonetheless.
In non-Parsons news, Rasheed Walker gets the nod for the Packers in Week 1.
Sometimes I think headlines are exaggerated, but no, that’s an honest-to-goodness orange shark. That shark is orange.
