The Nicolas Jackson transfer saga eventually ended with him leaving Chelsea on loan to join Bayern Munich.
It was a tense final few days of the summer transfer window for Nicolas Jackson, but he did secure his move to German champions Bayern on Monday’s deadline day.
According to BBC Sport, Bayern are paying £14.3m to take Jackson on a season-long loan for the 2025/26 campaign. If he makes a set number of appearances, it will trigger an obligation to buy for around £56.2m next summer.
It looked like the striker’s move would fall through when Chelsea cancelled Jackson’s loan over the weekend because of the injury to Liam Delap. However, they managed to renegotiate the transfer, while the Blues recalled Marc Guiu from his loan at Sunderland to provide cover in the centre-forward position.
It’s been reported that Jackson lost the trust of Enzo Maresca, the Chelsea head coach, so it feels like a departure made sense for all parties.

Nicolas Jackson reacts on Instagram to Bayern Munich move, Noni Madueke responds
After finally securing his transfer switch to Bayern, Jackson celebrated the news with a post on Instagram.
Noni Madueke, who shared the dressing room with Jackson for two seasons at Chelsea, posted a five-word response in the comment section. He replied: “You deserve it my brother.”

Like Jackson, Madueke also exited Stamford Bridge this summer. The 23-year-old winger joined London rivals Arsenal on a permanent basis, following the same path as the likes of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Kai Havertz.
Chelsea are happy with Madueke’s transfer sale because they feel the £52m deal is a fair price.
Madueke (11) and Jackson (13) scored a combined total of 24 goals across all competitions last season for Maresca’s side, so it’s a considerable change to the squad to get rid of both in the same window.

Chelsea will see Nicolas Jackson later this month
It will be fascinating to see whether Jackson plays for Bayern against Chelsea when the teams meet at the Allianz Arena on 17 September.
Chelsea travel to Germany to face Bayern shortly after this month’s international break.
Jackson will be available to face his parent club because UEFA regulations ensure teams can’t block loaned players from playing against them. We would expect to see Harry Kane leading the line, though.
