Bristol City have completed the signing of Arsenal goalkeeper Naomi Williams on a season-long loan deal.
The Robins announced news of the arrangement via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
The 20-year-old stopper has been on Arsenal’s books for the last seven years. Williams has successfully negotiated her way through The Gunners’ academy system and she now finds herself on the fringes of the first team squad. The keeper is yet to make her senior debut for Arsenal but she has been involved in several matchday squads.
Williams cannot be guaranteed regular first team minutes at Arsenal this season therefore the youngster will gain further senior experience in Barclays WSL2 with Bristol City.
After joining Bristol City on loan, Williams said “It feels amazing to be out on my first loan. To be here at Bristol City and to be a part of something great is exciting.
“The fans are amazing and I’m excited to get out on the pitch and see the fans there.”
Williams will provide competition for the number one jersey at Bristol City throughout this season. The player will work alongside fellow goalkeepers Fran Bentley and Emily Mutch during her time at Ashton Gate.
