Cam Heyward may skip season opener vs. Jets

The Pittsburgh Steelers are just days away from their Week 1 opener against the New York Jets, where Aaron Rodgers and Justin Fields will face off in a battle of quarterbacks facing their former teams. However, a larger looming issue hangs over the Steelers.

Defensive tackle Cam Heyward held in for a large chunk of training camp, as he wanted a raise on his 2025 salary. A resolution has not been reached in terms of a new deal for Heyward, but he did return to practice. That doesn’t mean he’s going to suit up, though.

On the latest episode of _[Not Just Football](https://youtu.be/Hkl4C2AGuQg?si=qWoBbi-Q_Fg99USu),_ Heyward was asked by his co-host Hayden Walsh if he would be playing on Sunday, to which Heyward gave an ominous answer that suggested he may sit out.

A lot of people already felt a certain way about Heyward seeking more money a year after he was given a two-year extension. Should he sit out games, it would almost certainly rub the vast majority of the fan base the wrong way.
