Kyler Murray enters Year 3 with the Arizona Cardinals’ current regime with a chance to build off his success from last season.
With the potential to lead the Cardinals to postseason success given his familiarity playing in the same system, The Athletic’s Mike Jones named Murray as the No. 21 most intriguing player in 2025.
Murray played some of his best ball down the stretch of last season and looked more like the player the Cardinals thought they were getting when they drafted him No. 1 in 2019. Another year with head coach Jonathan Gannon and offensive coordinator Drew Petzing also factored into Murray’s strong finish. Now entering his third season in the same system and with no rehab to slow his offseason preparation, Murray could take a big leap and position the Cardinals to make noise in a wide-open NFC West.
Murray is coming off a year where he played in all 17 games and recorded 3,851 passing yards, 26 total touchdowns and 11 interceptions with a 68.8% completion percentage.
He added 572 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 78 carries.
In his first full season since 2020, Murray improved his passer rating and turned the ball over less.
His passer rating (93.5) ranked 16th in the NFL in 2024, and he finished with an identical passer rating as Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Murray also had five fumbles in 17 games last season after having five across eight games in 2023.
The Cardinals kick off their season on the road against the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 7. Kickoff is at 10 a.m. MST.
