Arch Manning has simple, honest reaction to Texas’ disappointing season opener

Texas quarterback Arch Manning wasn’t satisfied with his underwhelming performance in Saturday’s season opener against Ohio State.

The new starter completed 17-of-30 passes for 170 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the 14-7 loss.

After the game, the nephew of Eli and Peyton Manning shared his disappointment with his performance.

“I hold myself to a high standard,” Manning told reporters after the game, via ESPN. “I’ve got to play better, got to lead more, got to get our guys to play well around me, and ultimately, I wasn’t good enough.”

Texas will play San Jose State at home next Saturday.

Manning was the No. 1 prospect coming out of Isidore Newman School in New Orleans in 2023. He spent the last two seasons as a backup to quarterback Quinn Ewers. In 2024, he threw for 939 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions.
