Arsenal Women forward Chloe Kelly is brimming with excitement ahead of the 2025/26 Barclays Women’s Super League (WSL) opener this Saturday at the Emirates Stadium, where the Gunners will take on London City Lionesses.
The 28-year-old enters the new campaign after a remarkable summer, playing key roles in Arsenal’s UEFA Women’s Champions League triumph and England’s victory at UEFA Women’s Euro 2025. Now, she is determined to build on that momentum and chase more silverware with her childhood club.
“It’s definitely not hard to get going again,”Kelly said ahead of the season curtain-raiser. “We’ve got competitions to win this season that we’re so hungry for. Once you taste success, you just want more of it.”

Kelly’s journey back to Arsenal has been a story of coming full circle. A product of the club’s academy, she returned to north London on loan from Manchester City last season before completing a permanent move this summer. Her standout performances during the 2024/25 campaign, particularly in the Champions League, quickly made her a fan favorite.
“It’s always nice to come back to a club where you grew up,” Kelly reflected. “Your journey goes different ways, but it always comes back home.”

Her permanent return required big lifestyle changes, including relocating from Manchester to London. “When you put pen to paper permanently, selling your house up north, moving down south, I had to do that,” she explained. “Hopefully I can be more settled now. It’s also nice that my family are not so far away, that’s so special to me.”
Looking ahead, Kelly is clear about her ambitions. “I just want to win everything possible. My eyes are set high this season for this club,” she declared. Her hunger for success is fueled by a whirlwind 2025, which saw her earn a late call-up to the England squad for the Euros and play a starring role in their championship run.

“It’s a little bit crazy, the journey that we’ve been on,” Kelly said. “In January, I didn’t even think I’d be going to the Euros, and to win it with an amazing team is so special.”
Despite her growing list of accolades, Kelly remains grounded and committed to the team-first mentality instilled at Arsenal. “I’m a big believer in everything happening for a reason,” she said. “Whether I start or finish the game, the most important thing is doing the job for the team and the manager. I’m ready for any opportunity.”

Kelly also praised the club’s role in pushing women’s football forward. “Arsenal have been driving women’s football for so long now, and to be back here is an incredible feeling,” she added. “We’re excited to win trophies at this club.”
After a challenging few years that included recovering from an ACL injury in 2022, Kelly has learned to prioritize balance, using her downtime to recharge. “I’ve spent loads of time with my family, which is special to me,” she said. “Being able to switch off completely from the game and social media has been so important to keep me going.”
With the new WSL season underway, Kelly’s form and leadership will be key as Arsenal look to compete for domestic and European glory once again.
