Broncos Could Add Intriguing Young Weapon for Bo Nix

The Denver Broncos have certainly had an impressive offseason, adding some significant pieces on both sides of the football to bolster their chances in an AFC West division that has been dominated by the Kansas City Chiefs for a decade.

And apparently, the Broncos may not be done acquiring talent, as they worked out former Dallas Cowboys running back Deuce Vaughn on Tuesday, via NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Vaughn was originally selected by the Cowboys in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft and barely played over his first couple of seasons in Dallas. He appeared in a grand total of 14 contests, totaling 110 rushing yards on 40 carries.

However, there is reason to believe that Vaughn may possess untapped potential based on his production at Kansas State and could provide some serious help for Denver quarterback Bo Nix.

The 23-year-old spent three seasons with the Wildcats and accumulated 3,604 yards and 34 touchdowns on 5.5 yards per carry throughout his collegiate career. Additionally, Vaughn amassed 116 receptions for 1,280 yards and nine scores.

That versatility could pay dividends for Nix and the Broncos' offense, and it should be noted that Vaughn racked up 18 rushing touchdowns in 2021 and followed that up by rattling off 1,558 yards during his final season at Kansas State in 2022.

Denver's backfield struggled mightily last year, which is why the Broncos signed J.K. Dobbins in free agency and selected RJ Harvey in the NFL Draft.

However, after releasing Audric Estime, Denver may have room for another running back, although Jaleel McLaughlin and Tyler Badie are currently listed as the third and fourth halfbacks on the Broncos' depth chart.

Perhaps the 5-foot-6 Vaughn will be compelling enough for Denver to add to the roster regardless.

The Broncos surprised everyone by winning 10 games and making the playoffs in 2024. They will open their 2025 campaign against the Tennessee Titans this Sunday.
