Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Ink Star Tackle to Lucrative 4-Year Extension

Ever since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers converted Luke Goedeke from left guard to right tackle in 2023, he has developed into one of the top right tackles over the past two seasons. He had a breakout 2024 campaign, allowing the fewest pressures, hurries, and quarterback hits while posting career highs in pass-blocking, run-blocking, and PFF grade. Goedeke allowed 17 pressures, 14 hurries, zero quarterback hits, and three sacks, posting a 75.8 pass-blocking grade, a 76.4 run-blocking grade, and a 73.7 PFF grade across 13 regular-season starts.

Luke Goedeke enters the final year of his rookie contract and will become a free agent next offseason. Due to Proven Performance Escalators, which award second- to seventh-round picks for playing a certain number of snaps throughout their first three seasons, he is scheduled to earn a $3.406 million base salary, along with a $3.824 million cap hit in 2025, per OTC. Finally, since Goedeke has already finished his third regular season, he is eligible to negotiate a contract extension at any time, per Article 7, Section 3 (k) (i) of the CBA.

It would be logical for Tampa Bay to lock him up to a long-term contract extension now rather than letting him test the open market.
