Assuming thatGreen Bay Packers’ shiny new defensive weapon Micah Parsons will hit the field this coming Sunday, theDetroit Lions will be the first team to test him since the stunning trade that sent the superstar linebacker last week to Wisconsin.
Parsons didn’t just land in an intriguing Super Bowl contender with the Packers; he also signed a massive four-year $186 million contract extension with Green Bay. That huge deal is not lost on Lions star defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, who could also be due for a big payday down the road.
Hutchinson, who is raring to go again and see action on the field after a long road back from a season-ending injury he suffered in 2024, said that “It’s been a big year for D-ends. It’s been a big year for the market,” when he spoke about Parsons ahead of the Week 1 meeting with Green Bay (h/tColton Pouncy of The Athletic).
Will Lions’ Hutchinson land a big contract like Parsons?

Hutchinson, who just turned 25 years old in August, appeared in only five games in 2024, as he suffered a devastating lower-body injury during a Week 6 assignment against Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys. Detroit twice defeated Green Bay in 2024, but Hutchinson was not available in both contests.
Selected second overall in the 2022 NFL draft by the Lions, Hutchison had his $19.782 million fifth-year option for the 2026 season picked up by Detroit, so there’s motivation for him to put together a strong 2025 campaign in order to make a bigger case for a lucrative extension deal from the Lions. Parsons reset the market with his eye-popping new contract, and that could benefit Hutchinson once he goes to the negotiation table again with Detroit.
