Mikel Arteta addressed the matter of ‘winning ugly’ as **Arsenal**edged out **Fulham**1-0.
The team have had a horrid time at CravenCottagerecently, drawing 1-1 in 2024 and losing 2-1 on the final day of 2023 in the Premier League. In many senses, they will not care about anything apart from the three points, having just checked off a victory at St. James’ Park, another bogey ground.
To top it off, the Gunners have only conceded three goals in the league this campaign, having got the most clean sheets in the last two league seasons. Their defensive record is still the best in the English top tier, and the stability is a perfect platform for the team to build upon in the offensive department. This win was not easy, but there is comfort to take in its grittiness.
“If you ask me how I would describe the team, the players, they're tough and very, very willing.
“It wasn’t comfortable. it feels in this pitch like it's smaller: they are straight away on you in the box!
“They didn't generate any big chances, it was more the feeling sometimes, especially in the first half with the giveaways and because there are a lot of players with a lot of quality in the final third and Raul Jimenez in the box who is a real threat and one [goal] that you know is not enough.
“You have to play the best in relation to the opponent and the place that you have to play, that's what we have to play. The best against Atletico Madrid is going to be different to the best of today.
“We have to make sure that we are able to take the game into those areas that is going to favour our possibility to win the game and we continue to try to improve.”
