Arsenal head into the match in red-hot form, having won both of their opening games against Athletic Bilbao and Olympiacos. Atlético, meanwhile, have had a mixed start, losing to Liverpool but picking up a win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Gunners remain unbeaten on home turf in all competitions this season, and this week marks just the second-ever meeting between Arsenal and Atlético at the Emirates.
The last time they faced off was in the 2017/18 Europa League semi-final, which ended 1-1 before Atlético edged the second leg 1-0 to reach the Europa League final.

What’s changing in the Champions League format?
UEFA recently confirmed another shake-up to the competition for the 2027/28 season, introducing a new format that will include an opening-night ceremony as part of a wider commercial revamp.
Following the opening fixture each Tuesday night, the rest of the action will take place across Wednesday and Thursday. It’s the second big change in recent years, following the switch to the League Phase format last season — and it looks like UEFA aren’t done experimenting just yet.
