Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone.
Arsenal have apologised to Atletico Madrid after the Spanish club’s players were unable to have hot water showers after their training session at Emirates Stadium on Monday evening.
Atletico take on Arsenal in the Champions League on Tuesday night and as is often the way in European competition, they took the opportunity to train at the home team’s ground 24 hours ahead of kick-off.
But once at the Emirates, it was discovered that neither the home or away changing room had hot water, with Atletico reporting the issue at around 6.45pm, with their training session due to finish at 7.30pm.
Stadium staff looked to resolve the issue and the hot water had been restored by 7.25pm, ahead of Atletico’s scheduled finish time, but the La Liga outfit had already left the ground by then and returned to their hotel for showers having finished their session around 15 minutes early.
Arsenal apologised to Atletico staff for the inconvenience.
