Mariona Caldentey and Alessia Russo have both been nominated for the BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year award.
Voting is now open to the public, celebrating the best footballers in the women’s game in the past year. Voting closes on Friday, October 31.
The award is based on performances from September 2024 to August 2025, encompassing our UEFA Women’s Champions League success as well as a UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 trophy for Russo, who ended last season as joint top scorer in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
Mariona also helped Spain to the Euros final, scoring in that match, and won the WSL Player of the Season award.
