Arsenal official travels for Tottenham target this week–London fight on the cards

Arsenal have joined Tottenham in the chase for Vasco da Gama’s breakout star Rayan, and their scouts have chosen a special moment to watch him.

The Gunners reportedly sent two representatives to the Maracanã last night to observe the 19-year-old during the 2–0 win over rivals Fluminense. The story was reported by Léo Lacerda and Luiz Amadeu from local outlet NT Vascaínos.

Their timing was just right. Rayan opened the scoreline and was named Man of the Match. He once again showed why so many European clubs are following him.

The teenager impressed with his pace, strength, and decision-making. In a high-pressure derby, he confirmed his rise as one of Brazil’s top young forwards.

Arsenal’s visit comes shortly after Tottenham and Barcelona sent scouts to watch Rayan during Vasco’s 2–0 win over Cruzeiro at São Januário. He also scored the opening goal in that match.

The North London club now joins an elite group of European sides closely tracking the player ahead of the next transfer window.

After the match, Portuguese defender Nuno Moreira, who played with Rafael Leão in Sporting’s youth academy, compared Rayan with the AC Milan star.

“Sharing the pitch with Rayan is great. He’s very young, strong, and full of quality. From what I’ve seen, he’s close to what Rafael Leão showed when we were kids. He’s a player who can become very big. I believe he’ll play for the best clubs in the world and make history,” said the full-back after the final whistle.

With Tottenham, Barcelona, Aston Villa, Newcastle and now Arsenal all monitoring him, Rayan’s performances have turned each match into a new audition for Europe’s elite.

Monday’s display at the Maracanã only strengthened the feeling that a Premier League move is a question of when, not if.
