Arne Slot has been dealt another Liverpool injury blow after midfielder Ryan Gravenberch missed training on Tuesday. The Netherlands international sustained an ankle injury during Sunday’s defeat to Manchester United but was able to complete 62 minutes before being withdrawn.

The Reds are back in action against Eintracht Frankfurt. in the Champions League on Wednesday night but Gravenberch is now a doubt after he took no part in Tuesday's training session. Curtis Jones was introduced in his place against United and could play the deep-lying role the Dutchman has excelled in since the start of last season.

It is likely he will start alongside Dominik Szoboszlai, who has been shunted around the team to accommodate other players, in the pair behind an attacking front four.

“I took him off because he twisted his ankle. Is he an injury concern? That’s what we have to wait and see tomorrow, but we have to play in two days again,” Slot said about Gravenberch after the weekend loss to Manchester united.

Wataru Endo has returned to training after a hamstring injury but appears unlikely to be considered for Gravenberch’s role in Germany. Striker Hugo Ekitike looks set to start against the club he left in the summer, along with £100million signing from Bayer Leverkusen Florian Wirtz, who was also a substitute at the weekend.

The extent of Gravenberch's injury is not yet known but the Reds have games against Brentford, Aston Villa and Manchester City in the Premier League to come in the next few weeks. Slot's side also face Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup and Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Following Arsenal's win against Fulham and Liverpool's 2-1 defeat to Man Utd at the weekend, the Gunners are top of the Premier League on 19 points. Man City are second on 16 points, while Liverpool and Bournemouth are third and fourth, respectively, with 15 points.
