Jamie Carragher will be concerned for his beloved Liverpool after a fourth consecutive loss, and the Sky Sports pundit is worried by just how prolific Arsenal are from every single corner they win.
Jamie Carragher says Arsenal are doing something unprecedented when it comes to corners
Arsenal scored yet another goal from a corner to secure victory at Craven Cottage.
Remarkably, it was the 37th goal the Gunners have scored from a corner since the start of the 2023/24 campaign, which is at least 16 more than any other club have managed in that space of time.
This dominance from corners has stunned Carragher, who told the Sky Sports Premier League Podcast: “I’m a Liverpool supporter, I’m watching Arsenal and every time they get a corner, my head is in my hands. I’ve never seen anything like this before in football.
“I think the whole football world feel every time they get a corner, they’re going to score a goal.”
Marco Silva even highlighted Gabriel Magalhaes as a threat before Arsenal travelled to Craven Cottage, but was still unable to prevent the Brazilian from grabbing yet another goal involvement from a corner.
After assisting Leandro Trossard in west London, the South American now has 18 goals and two assists in 168 Premier League appearances for Arsenal.
Nicolas Jover has helped Arsenal find a key marginal gain
Corners could well win Arsenal the Premier League title.
Arteta looked to be heading for a draw in a recent clash at Newcastle before Gabriel scored a header in the 96th minute, and it was another goal from a corner which helped Arsenal secure all three points at Old Trafford in August.
Nicolas Jover – the genius behind the tactic – is certainly earning his wage in N5 at the moment, and his work on dead ball situations at Arsenal could quite genuinely deliver a first Premier League title since 2004 this term.
