Arsenal player annoyed by“bad luck”as Gunners man picks up frustrating injury

David Raya is disappointed Piero Hincapié’s progress at Arsenal has been hindered by injury.

On Tuesday, the goalkeeper played the full 90 minutes in Arsenal’s 4-0 Champions League win over Atlético Madrid.

After the match, Raya spoke to the media in the mixed zone and talked about Hincapié. Ecuavisa have relayed his comments.

On summer deadline day, the centre-back joined the Gunners from Bayer Leverkusen on loan with an obligation to buy.

He came off the bench in Arsenal’s Champions League win over Athletic Club Bilbao in September. That has been the Ecuador international’s only appearance for the Premier League club.

Hincapié recently returned from a groin injury he suffered in September. Mikel Arteta left him on the bench in Arsenal’s latest win over the La Liga club. Journalist Darío Araujo questioned the 30-year-old Spain international about the centre-back.

Responding to that, he said: “Piero Hincapié is a great player. We know he’s had bad luck with the injury since he arrived, but he’s undoubtedly a great player.”

William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães have been the main centre-backs for Mikel Arteta. In short, the 23-year-old Ecuadorian is facing challenges to enjoy regular game time at Arsenal. However, Raya seems convinced of Hincapié’s qualities.
