Ex-Premier League Manager Lists 9 Reasons Why 'Unbelievable' Arsenal Will Win The League Under Mikel Arteta

Former Premier League manager Gary O’Neil listed nine reasons why Arsenal can win the league under Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners are in a great position after eight weeks in the Premier League season. They sit on top of the league table, three points clear of Manchester City, and four points clear of Liverpool, who have lost their last four games.

They turn their attention away from the Premier League this week with a game against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night, but will still be relishing over the 1-0 win against Fulham on Saturday.

It left Mikel Arteta‘s side as strong favourites to win the league title despite the fact that the Gunners have won just one trophy in the manager’s six seasons at the club.

Gary O’Neil gives nine reasons why Arsenal can win the league

Former Wolves and Bournemouth manager Gary O’Neil was very vocal on Monday about why he thinks Arsenal are a step above Liverpool and Manchester City, and even listed nine reasons why the Gunners can win the league under Arteta.

He said on Sky Sports: “He’s [Arteta] built almost a complete machine. The culture (1), how humble they are (2), how they work back (3), they don’t carry anybody ever (4), they’re unbelievable at pressing high (5), the two centre-backs and the goalkeeper are unbelievable at keeping clean sheets (6), they’re unbelievable at defending set-pieces (7), unbelievable at attacking set-pieces (8), if you go there and try and play them, they can play you off the park (9).”

O’Neil has said that he thinks Arteta hasn’t only taken inspiration from his time working under Pep Guardiola at Man City, but has almost been able to build the best bits of what every football team is looking to achieve.

“I think Mikel has taken bits of Pep [Guardiola],” O’Neil added, “he’s watched what else is important to football teams, and he’s managed to stay ahead of the game. This Arsenal team can do everything, for me he’s built a real machine there that is going to take some stopping this season.”

The Gunners are the run-away Premier League favourites

Amid O’Neil’s big praise for Arteta, it comes as no surprise to see Arsenal as the bookmaker’s favourites to win the Premier League this season.

According to Oddschecker, Arsenal are the favourites at odds of 4/5. It puts them ahead of Manchester City at 7/2, and Liverpool, who have dropped down to third after a poor spell of form at 9/2.

Arteta will hope that he can finally bring another piece of silverware to the Emirates, and not only silverware, but their first league title since the 2003/04 season under Arsene Wenger.
