The victory means Arsenal are one of just two teams in the Champions League this season who are still unbeaten and yet to concede a single goal.

Arsenal predicted to win Champions League after Atletico Madrid

In turn, it’s little surprise to see that Opta have increased the Gunners’ chances of winning the competition this season.

Before the 2025/26 European campaign began, their supercomputer.) gave Arsenal a 16.0% chance of lifting the trophy in 2026.

Liverpool were the favourites, being handed a 20.4% chance of success this season.

However, Opta’s supercomputer has updated its predictions after Arsenal beat Atletico, and they have made Mikel Arteta’s men the new favourites.

The North Londoners have a 20.47% chance of making it all the way to the final and then winning, while Arne Slot’s side have seen their chances of success drop to 10.36%.

Thierry Henry’s favourites to win Champions League

After such a prolific start, Thierry Henry’s prediction about Arsenal being one of the favourites to win the Champions League looks pretty wise.

Speaking live on CBS Sports post-Atletico, presenter Kate Scott confirmed that the Frenchman named the Gunners as one of the teams he expected to win the competition.

She said: “Thierry spoke about Arsenal in very high terms and obviously put them besides Bayern Munich and PSG in terms of favourites for this competition now.”

Scott then asked Jamie Carragher if he agreed with Henry’s verdict about the North Londoners.

He said: “I do look at this team now and see how strong they are defensively. My Liverpool team that won the Champions League were not a great team attacking-wise but we were strong defensively.

“That always gives you a chance, especially when you get to the knockout stages and the two-legged ties. If you’re strong defensively, you’ve always got a chance.

“So, yeah, I see Arsenal as one of the four or five teams that can win this competition.”
