Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard has provided an update on his recovery process as he continues to work his way back to full fitness following a recent injury setback. The midfielder sustained a new injury during Arsenal’s final match before the October international break, an unfortunate blow that came just as he had been named in Norway’s squad for their scheduled fixtures.
This latest setback is said to be more serious than the two injuries Ødegaard suffered earlier in the season, and it could keep him sidelined until after the November international break. The news has been disappointing for both Arsenal and Norway, as the playmaker remains one of the most influential midfielders for club and country.
Arsenal Managing Without Their Captain
Fortunately for Arsenal, their current squad depth in midfield has softened the impact of Ødegaard’s absence. Players such as Declan Rice, Mikel Merino, and Martin Zubimendi have all contributed to maintaining stability in the middle of the park. However, as the season progresses and the fixtures pile up across the Premier League and the Champions League, Mikel Arteta’s side will undoubtedly need the Norwegian’s creativity, leadership, and ability to dictate tempo from midfield.
Norway, too, will be eager for his swift recovery as they continue their push for World Cup qualification. Ødegaard has been instrumental for the national team, serving as both captain and chief playmaker, and his absence has been deeply felt.
Ødegaard’s Perspective on His Recovery
Speaking about his condition, Ødegaard made it clear that he is prioritising a careful and measured recovery rather than rushing his return. As quoted by Sports Illustrated, he said:
“‘It’s tricky to set a return date with this type of injury because, especially it being my [stronger] left leg, a lot depends on how it goes when I start getting back on the pitch. Sometimes it can be quite sore when you start passing the ball and shooting and all these things with that leg, so it’s really hard to say a date. All I can say is I’m progressing really well at the moment. I think we will know more when I start getting back on the training pitches and we’ll see how that goes. If that goes really well then it can be quick.’”
Ødegaard’s comments show his determination to recover properly and return stronger. His cautious approach suggests that Arsenal will continue to monitor him closely, ensuring he returns only when fully fit to avoid aggravating the injury. Both club and country will hope his rehabilitation progresses smoothly so that the influential midfielder can resume his crucial role as soon as possible.
