Mikel Arteta has revealed Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has not trained with the rest of the squad in the last few days after picking up an injury in the 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid.
The Brazilian started the match against the La Liga side on Tuesday night and even scored and grabbed an assist. But he was subbed off in the 72nd minute and now Arteta has confirmed he picked up a knock.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Arteta said: "Not much, obviously big Gabi had to leave the pitch with an issue, and he hasn't been able to train yet, so let’s see how he evolves in the next 24 hours, whether he's available or not for the weekend."
Arteta was also asked for an update on the club's long-term absentees, such as Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, Noni Madueke and Martin Odegaard. "They are all progressing really well, they are all starting to do certain activities, they are all super willing to be available as quick as possible but at the moment none of them are yet in contention in the next week or so," he said.
If Gabriel were to miss Sunday's clash against Crystal Palace, summer signing Cristhian Mosquera would likely come in to partner William Saliba. The 21-year-old has impressed since making the £13million move from Valencia and Arteta has been extremely complimentary of the centre-back.

“It's not easy to adapt to the league, to adapt to a new way of playing, but Mosquera is a great example," Arteta said last month. "I think what he did against Liverpool, being thrown out there after three minutes at Anfield in your first exposure in the Premier League, is very difficult to do.
“I think he was superb today again, and the rest were the new ones. So, again, let’s use that, learn from them. They are giving us a lot of information at the moment to make sure we use it in the right way.”
