“Better than Adriano” – Arsenal target being hyped as Gunners price goes up

Arsenal continue to monitor Vasco forward Rayan, but their pursuit could soon face a setback. The Brazilian club are close to reaching an agreement to extend the teenager’s contract until 2028, according to comments made by director of football Admar Lopes to Globo Esporte.

Lopes explained that negotiations with Rayan’s family and agents are progressing positively and that a deal is expected soon. he told the outlet.

Rayan’s current deal runs until December 2026, but Vasco intend to reward his form with a salary increase and a higher release clause.“A renewal of a player with this impact is to increase everything. The financial terms, the duration of the contract and the release clause. All to protect Vasco da Gama,” Lopes added.

Despite that, Arsenal’s interest is unlikely to fade. The London club had scouts at the Maracanã earlier this month when Rayan starred in Vasco’s 2-0 win over Fluminense. The 19-year-old now has 16 goals this season and continues to draw attention for his power and maturity.

Brazilian pundit Neto also fuelled the hype this week, saying on Band TV:“For me, Rayan from Vasco will be better than Adriano. He has the same style, but he’s more technical. He’ll be much better than Adriano. Rayan is the big revelation of the Brazilian Championship.”

Such praise only adds to the sense that Arsenal are tracking one of Brazil’s brightest emerging forwards. Whether a renewal changes the timing of their approach remains to be seen.
