Oliver Glasner: "We made too many mistakes in one situation"

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner was pleased with how his side performed in their frustrating defeat against Premier League leaders Arsenal.

An unnecessary tackle from Yeremy Pino on Bukayo Saka gifted Arsenal a free-kick inside the Palace half.

Another blunder followed from the resulting free-kick as Adam Wharton allowed Eberechi Eze to roam free and meet the ball in the air, nestling a karate-kick style finish past Dean Henderson in the 38th minute.

Palace made very few mistakes, but the brief lapse from Pino and Wharton allowed Arsenal to take the game away from them, sealing the result with an expertly executed defensive display – limiting Palace to just one shot on target and 0.47xG.

"It's a mixture of frustration about the result and being proud of the performance, especially in the first half," Glasner told Sky Sports. "You cannot give Arsenal anything.

“I haven’t seen many teams create a lot of chances here,” he added in his press conference. "We had a few moments where we could have been more dangerous.

“We missed a few opportunities to create more chances as it took us too long.

“It was a credit to Arsenal and how quickly they recovered.

“We didn’t give them a lot, but a little bit too much in one situation where we made two mistakes and got punished. That’s why we lost.”
