Gabriel Jesus Latest: Ex-Man City Star Breaks Silence On Possible Return To Former Club In January

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has spoken out about returning to one of his former clubs in the January transfer window.

The Gunners are in a great position right now, they are currently four points clear at the top of the Premier League table after a 1-0 win against Crystal Palace at the weekend. Much of Arsenal’s success so far this season has been down to their summer recruitment as they addressed several needs at key positions.

One such position is the striker role, as Arsenal signed Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP to play as the first choice number nine ahead of Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus. The latter has been injured with an ACL problem since January, and is nearing a return.

However, amid his close return from injury, reports have said that Arsenal are wiling to sell the former Man City star in the January transfer window, and Jesus could see a return to one of his former clubs, who are interested in re-signing him this winter.

Jesus “wants to return” to former club

The Arsenal striker recently spoke about the reports linking him with a return to Brazilian club Palmeiras, who he spent the early part of his career before joining Manchester City in 2017. He hasn’t ruled out a return to Palmeiras, although his immediate priority is recovery at the Emirates.

Jesus told ESPN: “That interest will always be there, both from them [Palmeiras] and from me. But there’s been nothing formal. It’s the natural interest of a kid who came through the Palmeiras youth system, went to Europe, and obviously wants to return one day. Everyone at the club knows that.

“I’m a player, and it’s a little harder to say, but when I feel like returning to Brazil, which isn’t the case right now, my desire is and always will be Palmeiras.”

Gabriel Jesus is excited to return for Arsenal

The 28-year-old’s injury struggles have been difficult to watch at Arsenal, as he has been a useful asset to Mikel Arteta when he’s been fit. However, he is getting closer to coming back into the first team, as he is back in training in a limited capacity.

Speaking in an interview about his injury, Jesus said that he is feeling good, and excited to get back into first team football under Arteta. He was quoted in the Metro: “I’m feeling great, my knee is responding very well.

“I’m looking forward to being around the team again soon, to come back to do what I love to do. It’s been too long… this one is the biggest injury I’ve had in my life. An injury like this, one that is so long, you split up the recovery periods into smaller timings.

“When you can see the end it’s important you don’t push too hard, keep my feet on the floor, and then as soon as the time comes, I will be ready.”
