Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has responded to recent comparisons between his side and Arsenal regarding their impressive record from set-pieces this season.
Both London clubs have established themselves as two of the Premier League’s most dangerous teams in dead-ball situations.
Chelsea have netted nine goals from set-pieces so far this campaign, the second-best tally in the league while Arsenal lead the way with 11, which accounts for 69% of their total goals in the 2025/26 season.
Maresca praised his team’s attacking prowess from free-kicks and corners, acknowledging Arsenal’s efficiency as a benchmark for success.

The Italian tactician will be hoping his side can maintain that threat when they face Wolves in the Carabao Cup on October 29, 2025, with a place in the quarter-finals at stake. Arsenal, meanwhile, take on Exeter City in their own Carabao Cup tie a day earlier.

Speaking to the media ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Wolves, Maresca said: “Yeah, but we also concede, Arsenal also concede from set-pieces. Set-pieces for me are part of the game.
“You are going to score goals from set-pieces and you are going to concede goals from set-pieces. It’s good news that after Arsenal we are the team with the most goals.”

He went on to stress that Chelsea must continue finding the back of the net, not only through set-pieces but also from open play.
Arsenal’s success from dead-ball situations has been a cornerstone of their campaign, reflecting Mikel Arteta’s long-standing focus on mastering set-pieces.
The Gunners boss recently spoke about his decade-long commitment to improving that area of the game, saying: “Ten years ago I said it’s a massive thing to do that (master set-pieces). I started to have a vision and tried to implement a method and tried to be surrounded by the best people to deliver that.”
