Max Dowman left out of Arsenal under-21s match vs Exeter City

As Arsenal prepare for their clash with Brighton, there are some big decisions to be made by Arteta surrounding his team selection.

Injuries to William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli will mean they are unavailable, while recent doubts over Declan Rice, Riccardo Calafiori and Bukayo Saka could see some rotation.

It’s unclear exactly who will be available and chosen; however, it seems as though Max Dowman has a chance to be involved.

That’s because the 15-year-old forward was absent from the under-21s squad taking on Exeter City in the Vertu Trophy.

It means he could be available to take on Brighton, while a few others on the cusp of the first team are involved.

There is one other notable absence in the team, though they won’t be available to take on Brighton due to other commitments.

Why Marli Salmon will miss Arsenal vs Brighton

Another star who has been tipped for big things at Arsenal is Marli Salmon.

At 16 years old, the defender has been playing regularly for the under-21s, with a big jump up in age groups suggesting he could improve plenty in the future.

Salmon has been likened to William Saliba, and he could follow in his footsteps one day.

However, the wait for a start in the senior team will go on, despite his exclusion from the under-21s team on Tuesday night, due to other commitments.

The defender is featuring for the England under-17s, meaning he is unable to play for the Gunners at either youth or senior level.

There is still a chance he could feature at some point this season, matching the achievements of Dowman along the way.
