Fabian Hurzeler had his say on the start of the season for Arsenal.
The Gunners are four points clear at the top of the Premier League table after winning 1-0 against Crystal Palace on the weekend. This month, they have ended hoodoos against West Ham, Fulham, and the Eagles, and they also battered Atletico Madrid 4-0 with all four goals coming in 13 minutes.
Set plays have been their gamebreaker this campaign and the key man to watch out for is Gabriel Magalhaes, who has set himself apart as the most aerially dominant central defender in the game.
But the attackers also deserve respect in their own right, and another starter could be Leandro Trossard, formerly on the books at Brighton, whose finishing and trickery are two of his top traits.
“The table tells the truth so they're doing well. Out of possession and with set pieces they are very good. These are two main factors in what makes them successful. They are very disciplined. I think everyone attacks the box and defends the box. It will be a big challenge for us dealing with set pieces.
“I think you can't defend them one against one. That's the first thing. The second thing I think is that it's not only Gabriel, but also the movement they do together. They block very well for each other.
“They have really good patterns. The other side is also that we are quite good at defending when we look at our defensive statistics. We are also trying to build a defensive culture but this needs time, it doesn't come overnight. But we are quite confident that we are able to defend set pieces against them.
“I can only judge him as a player, not as a person. He’s very good in both phases, so attacking and also how he defends his own box. Offensively, he has the quality to beat every player one v one.”
