Arsenal winger inspires young dreamers at his old school

Arsenal winger revisited his old classroom to remind children that big dreams can begin in small places.

A surprise visit from Arsenal winger

When Bukayo Saka made his entrance at the primary school where he studied, the atmosphere was nothing but joyful and respectful. The England and Arsenal’s wingman was not there to display his star power, instead he appeared as a bearer of a good message who has figured out the value of self-belief within.

His appearance was perfectly timed with the release of the new poll by YouGov and Chase which quantified the positive effect of sport on the youth. Children are more likely to admire sports players than the other way around. With four out of five children claiming to look up to them.

One-fourth of kids, however, say they get their inspiration from coaches or PE teachers. For Saka it was a real bond. He shared his story of the neighborhood playing grounds to the global stages of the international game. He kept on urging all children to be optimistic, to be diligent, and to believe in their skills.

Building future leaders through sport

The event at his old school was also part of Chase’s football coaching initiative. It invests in community support and young talent. The programme grants free attendance to coaching classes and financial support for the underprivileged families in the UK. Its target is to make an athlete out of anyone, no matter what their origin is, and a great influence in sports.

The research was such that the majority of children viewed sport not merely as a game, but as a means of developing skills such as cooperation and perseverance. Saka’s presence was not only a trip to the past but also a sign that sports could create character, lead to friendship and so on. The little ones he came across were left with so much.

Author’s opinion:

Saka’s visit proves true leadership begins with giving back. His story shows that role models can change lives far beyond the field.
