Arsenal stars have poured praise on youngster Andre Harriman-Annous after he made his senior debut in the Carabao Cup against Brighton.

The 17-year-old striker has risen through the ranks at the club, scoring plenty for the under-18s and under-21s.

The youngster played 77 minutes for Arsenal in their win over Brighton, receiving plenty of praise for his efforts.

Declan Rice and William Saliba praise Andre Harriman-Annous’ debut

Making a first start for a club as big as Arsenal can often be quite daunting, especially with such high expectations.

However, a debut for Andre Harriman-Annous against Brighton showed signs that he can compete at the top level.

It was a bold call from Mikel Arteta, but his faith was repaid with a top performance and passage into the next round of the Carabao Cup.

Harriman-Annous took to social media to discuss his debut, as he said: “What a night. A dream come true to start for Arsenal and a proud moment for me and my family to have made my competitive debut for this amazing club.

“Thanks to GOD for the opportunity that he has given me. Forever grateful for this opportunity and happy to be in the next round.”

Several stars took to the comments to praise the youngster, with Declan Rice simply saying: “Congrats brother.”

Jack Wilshere said: “Well done Andre,” while Bukayo Saka added: “Congrats bro.”

William Saliba simply said: “Rashford,” with some heart-eye emojis, referencing a moment last season where a fan believed the young striker was Rashford’s brother.

It all comes as praise for the youngster, who is starting to make a name for himself on the big stage for Arsenal.

Statistics behind Andre Harriman-Annous’ debut for Arsenal

With over 70 minutes in the tank, there is plenty that Harriman-Annous can take on board from his Arsenal debut.

The main one may well be just how difficult it is to get into the game itself, not least as a striker.

In the end, the 17-year-old only managed 17 touches, with a lot of the play happening behind him during the game.

There was just one shot in the game, but it was a big one, as Harriman-Annous went one-on-one, only to be denied by Luke Steele, before Bukayo Saka doubled the lead.

The youngster completed one key pass, with seven of his nine attempted passes coming off as successful.

Perhaps the most impressive part of his display came defensively, with three tackles made, one clearance and three ground duels won.

There are certainly elements to improve upon, but the striker has put himself in the frame for further appearances in the future.
