Arsenal striker Michelle Agyemang has been ruled out for the rest of the 2025–26 season after confirming she suffered a ruptured ACL while on international duty.
The 19-year-old, currently on loan at Brighton, was stretchered off during England’s 3–0 win over Australia in Derby on Tuesday. After the match, England manager Sarina Wiegman admitted the injury “looked horrible,” and Agyemang has now confirmed the worst via her Instagram page.
“Disappointed that results show a torn ACL,” Agyemang wrote. “I am so grateful for all the kind words and the support from everyone. Recovery starts now, I will be back stronger than before. In all things I give thanks to the Most High God. This test will surely turn into a testimony.”

Arsenal later confirmed that their academy graduate will miss the remainder of the season as she begins her recovery process.
Agyemang is regarded as one of the most promising young forwards in the women’s game, having played a pivotal role in England’s triumphant Euro 2025 campaign. After bursting onto the international stage with a memorable goal on her England debut in April, she earned a late call-up to the Euro squad and made an instant impact, scoring crucial equalisers against Sweden in the quarter-finals and Italy in the semi-finals.
The teenager had returned to Brighton for a second loan spell this season, hoping to build on her breakout year, but now faces an extended spell on the sidelines.

The FA released a message of support, confirming that Agyemang will receive full backing from England staff and her club during her rehabilitation.
“As a member of the Lionesses family, she has the full support of the FA and everyone associated with our England teams,” the statement read. “Lionesses staff will remain in regular contact with Michelle and her club and be on hand to aid any aspect of her rehabilitation. We are with you on your road to recovery, Michelle.”
Despite the devastating setback, Agyemang’s message of faith and determination has been met with widespread encouragement, a reflection of her growing influence both on and off the pitch.
