However, the star of the show was 15-year-old Max Dowman, who had the most dribbles completed, most fouls won and most duels won of any player on the pitch. For a 15-year-old to stand out in a game with two good Premier League teams, is unheard of, and Arsenal fans have taken to X to react to his superb performance.

He’s our diamond 💎 and I know the best is yet to come after a strong start he’s already made to this new season.

Could Dowman feature against Burnley at the weekend?

After such an impressive performance against Brighton in the Cup, Dowman is making a case for potentially featuring more often during the Premier League at the weekend.

Arsenal face a game against newly-promoted side Burnley, and so Mikel Arteta may consider rotating his team slightly to save his best players for their game against Slavia Prague in the Champions League during next week.

It would be a surprise if Dowman started against Burnley on Saturday, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the 15-year-old come off the bench, especially if Arsenal are fairly comfortable in the game, which you would expect based on the Gunners’ recent form.
