Fabrizio Romano shares if Bukayo Saka is set to become Arsenal’s top earner with new contract…

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is on course to be among the highest earners at the Emirates Stadium after edging closer to penning a new contract following positive discussions behind the scenes, GIVEMESPORT senior reporter Fabrizio Romano has revealed in his latest newsletter.

The Gunners reached an agreement for teenage talent Max Dowman to sign scholarship terms last week, but head coach Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta are also eager to reward key members of the squad with improved salaries after surging to the Premier League summit in the early stages of the season.

Saka Holding Positive Discussions Over Fresh Terms

Saka will be among the names at the top of the Arsenal wage bill when he signs on the dotted line, according to Romano, but the length of the terms is still being ironed out in conversations. When asked whether the England international will be on the most lucrative contract at the Emirates Stadium, the respected journalist said in his newsletter sent to GMS subscribers on Friday lunchtime:

"Yes, he would be among their top earners. The length of the contract is being discussed, but talks are very positive, so I think a new deal will get done."

Arsenal opened discussions with Saka over an improved contract before the summer transfer window and they have edged towards persuading him to commit his long-term future to the north Londoners as all parties are aligned in their desire to move forward together.

The wide forward is on course to enter the final 18 months of his current agreement at the turn of the year and, having been able to pocket up to £295,000-per-week when bonuses are triggered, the Gunners want to convince him to sign on the dotted line instead of allowing speculation to arise when the transfer window reopens.

Saka found the back of the net when he came off the bench during Arsenal's Carabao Cup fourth round victory over Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this week, which booked a quarter-final clash with Crystal Palace, and he has registered four goals over the course of 11 outings in all competitions this season.

Despite still being in the early stages of his career, the 24-year-old is in line to make his 275th senior appearance for the Gunners when they make the trip to Turf Moor to face newly-promoted Burnley in a Premier League encounter on Saturday.
