Liverpool and Arsenal closely watching Bundesliga star

Liverpool welcome Spanish giants Real Madrid to Anfield in an intriguing Champions League group phase clash on Tuesday night.

Arne Slot’s side have been in woeful form in the Premier League of late, although they did end a four-game losing streak in the competition by beating Aston Villa last time out.

The Reds also cruised to a 5-1 victory over German side Eintracht Frankfurt in their last European game, and Slot’s side therefore sit tenth in the group phase table.

In the build up to Tuesday’s game, much of the talk is around the return of Trent Alexander-Arnold to Anfield, however it has now emerged that Liverpool are interested in a Bundesliga star.

As per TBR Football, both Liverpool and Premier League title rivals Arsenal are currently paying close attention to RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande.

The report claims that the two sides are among a number of clubs interested in the winger, who has been in fine form for Leipzig so far this season.

Having joined Leipzig from Leganes over the summer, Diomande has scored three goals and registered three assists in ten games for the German side so far this season.

The Ivory Coast international only moved to Europe at the start of this year, having previously plied his trade in high school football in the United States.

He impressed when moving to Spain in January, though, and has continued his impressive progression since making the switch to Germany.

Last time out, the 18-year-old scored as Leipzig defeated Stuttgart 3-1, and the report claims that scouts from several clubs were in attendance at the match.

While the player signed a five-year deal when completing his £17.6 million move to Leipzig over the summer, it is claimed that his current contract doesn’t include a release clause.
