Mikel Arteta told Arsenal must do one thing differently if they're to win Premier League

Arsenal must reach 90 points this season to win the Premier League says Joleon Lescott. The Gunners currently top the table after 10 matches.

MikelArteta's side have played second fiddle for three years on the spin to either Liverpool or Manchester City. But this term, they look like a force to be reckoned with.

Buoyed by the signing of striker Viktor Gyokeres, as well as an improved midfield and some attacking reinforcement, the Gunners have opened up a six-point gap to the chasing City and a seven-point window to Liverpool.

Last year while battling with the Reds they only mustered 74 points. The year prior they fell short on 89 and 84 wasn't enough the campaign before that. Former City star Lescott insists that if this year is to be their year, Arsenal must hit that 90-point mark.

"Even if they drop points, if they keep doing what they have been doing then they win the league. It's the position they're in, the confidence that they have and the way that they're playing.

"It is still early and they look to be in control. However, the new norm is 90 points or higher. Manchester City and Liverpool have set a new normal level.

"It's like you have to go on a 10-game winning streak at some point now. Not even 10 games unbeaten. You have to win 10 games in a row, which is mad. That is only a third of the points you need to win the league too."

Lescott does admit that before the season began he thought reigning champions Liverpool would finish at the summit again under Arne Slot.

While he says their plan to recruit and improve hasn't worked, Lescott reckons Mohamed Salah can still help the Reds challenge Arsenal for the league title.

"I just thought Liverpool were going to continue their momentum. I thought the confidence was going to be there and they were adding quality and that's why they were my favourites," added Lescott.

"They were building a squad to win every competition. It hasn't been like that. The form of some of the players has had an impact, like Florian Wirtz.

"But Salah has done what he's done. So the job is to get the ball to Salah. That's the job of the players and that's the plan. We know Salah can do it. He has done it before."
