“Doesn’t make sense”–CEO rules out January move for player desired by Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City

Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City have set their sights on Levante UD’s Etta Eyong.

The Premier League trio’s interest was on the [front page of Mundo Deportivo](https://sportwitness.co.uk/front-page-report-manchester-united-manchester-city-and-arsenal-pursuing-e40m-signing-player-aims-january-resolution/) on October 30th.

Mundo reported Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City are all keen on signing the striker. Barcelona are also interested and are said to have an advantage over the English clubs.

Mundo stated the 22-year-old has a €30m clause which will rise to €40m for Manchester United, Arsenal or Manchester City.

Levante CEO José Danvila has given a detailed interview to [Radio Marca](https://www.marca.com/radio/2025/11/05/consejero-delegado-levante-cierra-puerta-salida-etta-eyong-enero-totalmente-descartado.html), and was asked about the Cameroon international.

The La Liga side signed the 22-year-old from Villarreal on summer deadline day, and he’s enjoyed a good start. Etta Eyong has scored six goals and contributed three assists from 11 league matches.

He has a contract until 2029 and Danvila was asked about the possibility of selling him in the winter market.

_“No. In fact, I’m already hearing some rumours about Etta Eyong. We receive offers for him every day. The player isn’t going to be sold. He won’t leave this winter. Mainly because our priority is to stay up. It doesn’t make sense to make an effort in the summer and then sell him in the winter,”_ he said.

_“The club’s greatest asset is staying in the first division, even if a very large sum of money comes in._

_“We’ll analyse the situation when the season ends. If we stay in the first division, there will be a re-evaluation of the squad. The club will continue to work with the current squad until May 17th, and if a good opportunity arises in the winter transfer window, we will consider it.”_

Determination to keep Etta Eyong

The Levante CEO was then asked whether Barca have made contact for Etta Young. When responding to that, he also said there’s been no approach from the Premier League.

_“Barca haven’t contacted Levante about Etta Eyong, and we haven’t received any calls from the Premier League either. We did receive a firm offer for the player, but it has been rejected,”_ Danvila explained.
