Liverpool, Man City face off in massive showdown to keep title hopes alive

Arsenal: The Gunners’ professional, consistent, grinding season goes on, winning their fifth in a row last week, 2-0 over Burnley — their fourth clean sheet in a row. They didn’t concede a goal in all of October. It’s an interesting weekend with City and Liverpool playing each other in second and third, as holders of top spot Arsenal now face fourth-placed Sunderland. A great story so far this season, Sunderland aren’t as stout defensively as Arsenal, whose three goals allowed in 10 games is far and away the best in the league, but Sunderland only have given up eight goals themselves, joint second-best in the league. If Arsenal are doing anything different this season it’s being methodical and not making mistakes trying to blow teams away. A nice, tidy 1-0 win suits them just fine. That approach could well win them the league. They are the only club at the moment with a winning streak. Every team that won this past weekend had lost or drawn the week before, a tremendous stat showing the parity in the league.
