Rodrygo back on the Arsenal radar

Arsenal are once again considering a move for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo.

The Gunners were linked with a move for the Brazilian in the summer window, but nothing materialised in the end.

However, his uncertain situation at the Bernabeu means that their interest has been revived. He finds himself pushed down the pecking order under Xabi Alonso, with Arda Güler and Franco Mastantuono ahead of him, whilst Kylian Mbappé and Vinïcius Júnior are guaranteed starters.

And it seems whilst Alonso is happy to keen Rodrygo at the club, he sees his role primarily as a back-up option. He has played just 327 minutes of first-team football this season, providing two assists in the Champions League, but he is yet to score. Indeed his last goal came in the Champions League against Atlético Madrid in March.

With Rodrygo increasingly unhappy at his role in Madrid, especially given the World Cup next summer, he may agitate for a move, although his salary demands could be an issue.
