Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly has been left out of the latest England squad after Thomas Tuchel warned him over a lack of playing time.

Lewis-Skelly is among the eye-catching absentees from the squad, along with Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins and Morgan Gibbs-White.

Tuchel has handed a first call-up to Bournemouth star Alex Scott, while Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden and Adam Wharton are among those recalled to the squad.

Lewis-Skelly had been part of the Three Lions' squad for World Cup qualifiers last month, but Tuchel had raised doubts over his future.

Tuchel had admitted a lack of starts for the Gunners could become a 'problem' for Lewis-Skelly as he insisted England players need to perform for their clubs on a regular basis.

'To just be a good citizen in camp will not be enough over the course of a year,' Tuchel said.

'He was a very good player in camp, a very good team-mate in camp. But being a good team-mate in camp may not be good enough to stay the whole year with us.

'You have to perform at club level on a regular basis. In the last camp he got the credit, that I was convinced we have to take care of him and nominate him because we accelerated his career. It was our responsibility after we called him last season. So we stick to this.'

Lewis-Skelly has played just 86 minutes in the Premier League so far this season, with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta having preferred to play Riccardo Calafiori at left back.

Lewis-Skelly's absence from the squad comes as Reece James returns to the England set-up.

James had missed the Three Lions' two World Cup qualifiers last month after being forced to withdraw through injury.
