Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta does not expect to have Viktor Gyokeres available for the game against Sunderland this weekend.
The Swedish international picked up a hamstring problem against Burnley last week, and asked if any of the team’s injured players would be returning ahead of the trip to the Stadium of Light, Arteta replied:

“We remain the same, and nobody new that can join the squad, so all the same.”
Gyokeres missed the 3-0 win over Slavia Prague on Tuesday evening and there are concerns that he will be on the treatment table for several weeks.
Arsenal have sent Gyokeres away for scans
Speaking on Monday, Arteta revealed that the medical team have been trying to determine the extent of the injury, and that the club would provide an update “the moment” they get one.
It seems that the Gunners are keeping quiet on the seriousness of Gyokeres’s issue currently, but from the sound of things, fans will have to wait until after the international breal for the player to make his comeback.
Who else will be missing for the Sunderland fixture?
Based on Arteta’s remarks in his pre-match press conference, it seems captain Martin Odegaard, Noni Madueke, Kai Havertz (all knee), Kepa Arrizabalaga and Gabriel Martinelli (knock) will not be in contention.
There are also doubts about Martin Zubimendi who (like Gyokeres) also came off against Burnley and didn’t travel to Prague. The midfielder’s injury is, however, deemed to be relatively minor.
Gabriel Jesus is the only player who Arteta did provide an update on. He confirmed that the Brazilian is now back in full training. The striker has not played a competitive game since he was stretchered off with an ACL injury during the FA Cup defeat to Manchester United at the start of this year.
