[Arsenal](https://goonernews.com/) have the best collection of center back talent in world football when looking at their top end quality, depth, versatility, and all-around play. Anchored by Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba, the best duo in the league, Arsenal have added a high end, ascending center back in each of the past two windows.
Last year, they brought in Riccardo Calafiori, who is now one of the best left backs in the Premier League, and this past summer transfer window, they brought in another versatile young standout in Piero Hincapie.
Along with Hincapie, Arsenal were also looking at 20-year-old Rennes prospect Jeremy Jacquet, who has all the tools to develop into the next world-class French center back a la Saliba.
According to Fabrizio Romano in an appearance with Ben Jacobs on Give Me Sport, Arsenal are going to go back for the young Rennes star in the summer 2026 transfer window.
They only didn’t sign Jacquet in the summer 2025 transfer window because the Ligue 1 side told the Gunners that Jacquet was off limits and they had no intention of selling.
So Arsenal will try again for Jacquet in 2026. Jacquet has been great this season for Rennes with 2.6 combined tackles and interceptions and just 0.2 dribbles completed allowed while completing 90 percent of nearly 60 pass attempts per game.
