Arsenal Injury News: 6 Out & 2 Doubtful Ahead of Sunderland Clash

Arsenal are hot on the heels of their impressive 3-0 win over Slavia Prague in the Champions League. They are gearing up to take on Sunderland in their next Premier League outing – but who will the Gunners be able to call upon?

Granit Xhaka will hoping his good form continues and he is able to lead his new club to victory over his old club in Arsenal.

A few players were missing for Arsenal’s trip to Prague in midweek, many of them attacking players – Mikel Arteta will need to find ways to fill the gaps.

The Gunners have six players who are out with injuries and a further two who are doubtful for the game against the Black Cats. Let’s take a look at who they and how severe their respective injuries are.

Kai Havertz

Kai Havertz underwent knee surgery back in August and is still in recovery.

However, he isn’t too far away from a return to action – the German international could be fit to play again by the end of November.

Martin Odegaard

Martin Odegaard, in theory, should have been an insurmountable loss for the Gunners when he was injured back in October, but they have been performing to an incredibly high standard in his absence.

Like Havertz, Odegaard could return to action before the month has concluded.

Gabriel Martinelli

Arsenal’s attacking ranks remain somewhat threadbare as Gabriel Martinelli is set to miss out on yet another Premier League game this weekend.

He is suffering from a muscular issue in his thigh and also missed out on the Brazil squad ahead of their international fixtures.

Gabriel Jesus

The perpetually injured Gabriel Jesus will not be fit to play until the new year – as things stand, the former Manchester City man has yet to play a game of competitive football this season.

He could leave the club and return to Brazil in January which Jesus has even hinted at.

Noni Madueke

Noni Madueke has been off the pitch since September with a knee injury, but multiple scans showed that he had not torn his ACL as previously feared.

He is now reportedly back in light training, but he is not ready to return to the first team just yet.

Viktor Gyokeres

Viktor Gyokeres picked up a hamstring issue during Arsenal’s 2-0 away win at Burnley last weekend. An official timeline has not yet been given regarding the Swedish international’s recovery, but he could be fit to play again in the next few weeks.

Martin Zubimendi

Martin Zubimendi asked to be substituted during Arsenal’s win over Burnley after suffering from a muscle issue. He was not featured in their squad to take on Slavia Prague, but this was due to suspension – not his injury.

He has returned to training and could be fit to play when Arsenal play Sunderland on Saturday afternoon.

Kepa Arrizabalaga

Kepa Arrizabalaga was not featured in the Arsenal squad on Tuesday evening as he had previously suffered a knock.

He could be fit to play at the weekend, but the Spaniard’s status remains unclear at this point.
