Sunderland's unbeaten run at the Stadium of Light continues after a brilliant battling display against Arsenal.

The Gunners took the lead in the first half through Dan Ballard before Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard turned things around for Mikel Arteta's side in the second-half.

Regis Le Bris made three changes just after the hour mark which made all the difference as Brian Brobbey came off the bench to score his first goal in a red and white shirt.

ChronicleLive has taken a look at some of the moments you might have missed from the game.

Arteta's anger at Sunderland's opener

The Arsenal boss is never phased about playing the role of the pantomime villain, and he assumed that role perfectly tonight.

The 43-year-old was furious with a decision in the first half to award the home side a free-kick despite a clear trod on Enzo Le Fee's foot. Arteta flung his hands in the air as he made his way back to the dugout, disappointed with the decision.

Imagine how he'd react to a good challenge being punished by the officials? He wouldn't have long to wait.

So, when Martin Zubimendi won the ball in a tackle with Wilson Isidor - at least it looked like a good challenge from way up in the press box - the Arsenal head coach was left incensed. It was a key moment in the game.

As Sunderland opened the scoring less than a minute later, the Gunners boss sarcastically applauded the decision as he made his way back to the bench.

The red and white faithful paid little attention as Dan Ballard wheeled away to the corner flag to celebrate against his former club.

Sunderland's tactical hint in the warm-up

We saw against Chelsea just how effective Sunderland can be moving to a 4-3-3 in possession, though at Everton, the Black Cats couldn't quite find the same fluidity.

Both Trai Hume and Reinildo rolled into midfield areas when Sunderland had possession, but the Toffees had condensed the middle of the pitch and made it tough for the Wearsiders duo to get on the ball.

Ahead of kick-off tonight, Hume warmed up alongside Sunderland's midfield duo and attacking trio. The Northern Ireland international operated on the right of a midfield three as they went through passages of play.

It would foreshadow what the game plan was, though there was little indication Sunderland would go as brave as they did with the press, going man for man. There were times when their centre-halves would track Arsenal's forward players deep into their own half.

It was a brave approach from Le Bris and Arsenal's equaliser highlighted just how easy it is for top teams to punish you at this level - Le Fee was caught in possession and Bukayo Saka made no mistake when presented with the opportunity.

Granit Xhaka feelings clear on Arsenal reunion

The former Gunners midfielder was given a warm round of applause by the travelling Arsenal fans prior to kick-off, having spoken fondly about his time at the Emirates Stadium.

But once the whistle went to start the game, that all went out the window. He was his usual, professional, classy self and helped the Black Cats establish a foothold in the game.

There was plenty of talk about how Xhaka had matured in the years that would follow Arteta's appointment, but there's still that fight and grit that made him such an influential and respected figure during his time at the Emirates.

The Sunderland captain made his feelings clear towards Mikel Merino when the Spaniard went down under the challenge of the Swiss international.

The referee awarded a foul, but the Sunderland talisman barked his displeasure towards Merino while he lay in a heap on the floor.
