Gabriel Jesus nears Arsenal return after 10-month ACL ordeal. Gabriel Jesus nears his return with the team officially after a long and difficult ten months of injury. It will be a huge lift for Mikel Arteta‘s group with a busy winter schedule coming up.
The Injury Setback
The death, on January 12, 2025, was a set-back for Jesus in his comeback to the pitch. The Brazilian forward suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury to his left knee during an FA Cup match against Manchester United when he collided into Bruno Fernandes and was ultimately taken off on a stretcher for a new left knee. The club released the severity of the injury to its fans a few days later and Jesus subsequently had a successful operation which then saw him out for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
The wound was especially inhuman because it happened at a time when Jesus was in his best shape. Moreover, he had scored six goals combined with four starts. He also got the award of the Player of the Month award in Arsenal.
The Long Road to Recovery
Jesus did go on to an intensive and protracted rehabilitation program facing the greatest injury of his career. His recovery included:
Early Rehabilitation: He was filmed working in the facilities of his previous club Palmeiras in Brazil, where he shared the videos of his condition, which included skipping exercises and strength training.
Mental Strength: Jesus portrayed the test as a trial by God that greatly supported him through his faith and family. The birth of his second child in the summer was a ray of sunshine at this hard time.
Staying in Contact: His schedules did not align with that of the team. However, he attempted to configure his agenda to stay near his team and even flew to Paris to be with his teammates for a semi-final in the Champions League.
What’s Next for Jesus?
In the case of the 28-year-old, the motivation is evident. Having the 2026 world cup coming, he will be keen to rediscover his performance. Moreover, he will be able to make the national Brazilian team to a third consecutive world cup. Not only does his return add some more flavor to Arsenal attack but it also introduces a seasoned and resolute winner whose presence may prove critical to the title hopes of the Gunners.
