If you have been scanning social media since the Arsenal match ended on Saturday v Sunderland, undoubtedly you read a lot of posts regarding how Arsenal “has opened the door,” or how Arsenal has “shown its weaknesses”, etc.
Really, come on people, it was one match against a pretty good side that had ample time to prepare to face the Gunners.
Yes, Arsenal’s consecutive streaks for wins and clean sheets is over, but, at the end of the day, it was a draw, not a defeat. The Gunners didn’t get outplayed and lost by three goals.
Yes, the lads had their chances to ice the match, but the football gods unfortunately had others plans. So, we head into another international break with 14 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat in all three competitions. Hardly anything to feel down and out about.
As you already know, I’m not a huge fan of these breaks, however, this particular one comes at a very good time for Arsenal.
Why you might ask?
Well, there are some key players who need to get healthy because when the break ends the Gunners have a very daunting holiday season fixture list, beginning with a North London Derby on November 23rd v Hotspur, then a big match v Bayern Munich in the Champions League on November 26th.
The rubber is about to hit the road, and the real Arsenal will be revealed over this period of time.
I predict a very strong run of games, but remember, if there is a draw or even a defeat during this period, don’t panic. It’s a long season. As long as the club plays up to its potential each and every match, the end results at the end of the season should be fantastic.
Enough with the haters and naysayers. We are Gooners, today, tomorrow and always!
Cheers.
